Project Background
A new Children’s and Community Centre is coming to Diggers Rest! This modern space is being built to support the growing needs of our Diggers Rest community and will include:
- Kindergarten facilities
- Maternal and Child Health services
- A unique Library Lounge – the first of its kind in the City of Melton!
Our vision is to create a welcoming place where everyone can come together, enjoy library programs, access essential services, and build lasting connections.
Council has started the process to name the Community Centre to ensure there is clear identification to support a well-planned City and ease of reference for the community and emergency services. Council will seek to finalise the ultimate name, as soon as practicable, so appropriate signage and advertising processes can occur in advance of the official opening.
The name must follow the official Naming Rules for places in Victoria, for more information please visit our Place Names Hub.
We asked the community to vote on which Naming Theme should guide the naming of the new building, and to share your own Name Suggestions for consideration.
In applying Council's Place Naming Policy, there are four key place naming themes which we aim to facilitate. Click on each of the cards below to find out more information:
We will now take the time to review all suggestions and ideas. A shortlist will be provided in May for review and community voting. Thanks to all those who provide suggestions - we're looking forward to next steps!
