Project Background
Thank you to everyone who helped us develop a strategy to improve the parklands along the Melton Weir and Reservoir.
We considering ways to link hectares of open space, connect more people to the water and parklands, and make the most of the natural setting.
Your feedback helped guide the creation and improvement of the parkland along the Melton Weir and Reservoir.
Council adopted the Melton Weir Parkland Strategy at the June 2024 Council meeting.
The main objective of the strategy is to improve access and recreational opportunities and transform the weir into a recreational drawcard for the City of Melton and wider Melbourne.
Rapid development of the land along the Melton Weir is changing the face of the parkland triggering the need for a more coordinated and strategic vision to its development.
This strategy provides direction for the development of surrounding parkland, as well as amenity and infrastructure upgrades and improvements to access and opportunities for recreation.
Extensive consultation on the area’s existing uses, detailed site assessments and background analysis informed the strategy which outlines Council’s expectations for future development and the responsibilities of relevant stakeholders and authorities.
