Join the Vape Free West Youth Working Group (YWG)
Are you aged between 18-25 years from Arabic, Burmese, Chin or Karen speaking backgrounds in the Western Melbourne region? You are invited to join the Youth Working Group for the Vape Free West project to shape an online, culturally relevant vaping awareness program for your community.
Vape Free West is a project led by five councils including Brimbank, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Wyndham, and leading health organisations such as Western Public Health Unit, Cohealth, IPC health and Western Health.
YWG details
- There will be 8 to 10 YWG meetings online or in-person, about 1.5 hours long.
- Meetings will begin on Tuesday, 17 June, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. After the first meeting, sessions will continue weekly on Tuesdays at the same time, either online or occasionally in person.

What will YWG members need to do?
- attend meetings and participate in discussions
- share ideas on how to create resources and messages to suit their community '
- contribute to the development of a social media campaign to prevent vaping among young people in their communities.
Who Should Apply?
- young people who are 18 to 25 years old
- live, study, work or volunteer in the West including the Brimbank, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, or Wyndham
- belong to Arabic, Burmese, Chin or Karen speaking backgrounds
- willing to contribute to ideas for the Vape Free West Project
- be able to attend the working group sessions
- accept the guidelines and Confidentiality Agreement.
To show our appreciation for your time, each member will receive a $50 voucher for every session that they attend. Please refer to the guidelines for more information.
