Project Information

Melton City Council is improving parking and road safety in Truganina industrial precinct.

Council conducted a traffic and parking study in Truganina to address traffic congestions and improve accessibility to industrial properties. From our traffic investigation and analysing the existing road, Council's Traffic and Transport Engineers proposed a parking management plan to maintain a safe road network. Council engaged with all owners and businesses for their feedback and concerns.

Background

There has been a long history of community requests to review traffic and parking issues in Truganina Industrial Precinct.

Council followed up with a detailed assessment of this area to develop a strategic approach to identifying and addressing key issues and any additional measures that may be required to improve road safety and accessibility.

The Truganina industrial road network is unable to support parking on both sides for larger size heavy vehicles. Parking on street impacts accessibility to industrial warehouses and congestions, resulting in unsafe manoeuvring and incorrect driving practices.

Council sought community feedback for proposed traffic improvements to implement on street parking restrictions along one side. Council prepared a parking management plan for Truganina Industrial Precinct that facilitates safe access and traffic flow.

The proposed parking plan balances the needs of businesses and their service providers directly impacted by parking conditions. Consideration for street parking is kept to cater for visitor parking demand.

The proposed Parking Management Plan for Truganina Industrial Estate is listed in Council's 2023/24 Capital Works project.
