Project Background

Melton City Council manages the local road network.

One of Council’s responsibilities is to approve works that impact the road network, including temporary road and lane closures.

What’s happening?

Developer-works on the next stage of urbanising Sinclairs Road, between Arkbar Avenue and Amalfi Parade, are planned to commence soon. This will include:

  • Increasing indented onstreet parking
  • Installing road safety treatments to improve pedestrian safety; including raised crossing points at intersections
  • Additional traffic calming measures between Arkbar Avenue and Amalfi Parade

To deliver these upgrades the developer has requested temporary changes to the road network.

The images below show the upgraded section of Sinclairs Road. This project will continue this treatment to Akbar Avenue.

Traffic impacts

A temporary lane closure is proposed to be in place on Sinclairs Road, between Normanby Boulevard and Amalfi Parade, for approximately nine weeks from Monday 25 May 2026.

The temporary lane closure is required due to the nature of the works, which include deep excavation, construction of footpaths and kerbing, line marking and construction personnel working within the roadway.

During the temporary lane closure on Sinclairs Road:

  • Southbound traffic on Sinclairs Road will continue to operate as normal
  • Northbound traffic will be detoured via Arkbar Avenue and Normanby Avenue
  • Heavy vehicles will be detoured via Taylors Road, Caroline Springs Boulevard and Neale Road.

Additional short-term traffic impacts are expected later this year. The exact dates are to be confirmed.

Traffic impacts will include Temporary closure of Normanby Avenue at Sinclairs Road during the September school holidays to construct the bike and pedestrian crossing, with traffic detoured via Curtain Drive.
