Project Background
Melton City Council has received a request from a developer to construct the Saric Street and Taylors Road intersection.
To allow for the works, Krateron Street will be closed at Taylors Road and a temporary no right turn into and out of Chateau Promenade will be in place from Monday 23 February until October 2026.
Once construction of the new intersection is complete, the right turn into or out of Chateau Promenade will be restored. Krateron Street will remain permanently closed to traffic at Taylors Road, however residents will be able access Taylors Road via the new Saric Street intersection.
Why are these changes required?
Krateron Street is not designed to cater for higher volumes of traffic, and the long-term plan has always been for residents to access Taylors Road via Saric Street, which is wider and connects directly into Hume Drive.
The closure of Krateron Street will enable the construction of the new intersection to safely occur behind barriers and prevent serious road incidents impacting Taylors Road.
The temporary no right turn into and out of Chateau Promenade will ensure safety for road users as barriers, works and equipment will obscure the vision of oncoming traffic.
Detour
From Monday 23 February 2026 until October 2026 the detour route for the closure of Krateron Street will be via Saric Street, Hume Drive and City Vista Court.
For those wanting to turn right out of Chateau Promenade into Taylors Road you will need to turn left on Taylors Road and make a U-turn at the Sinclairs Road roundabout.
For those wanting to turn right into Chateau Promenade from Taylors Road you will need to turn right at the Sinclairs Road roundabout and then turn left at Merinda Avenue to reach Chateau Promenade.
