Background

Melton City Council is revitalising Taylors Hill Sports Park to provide a variety of play experiences for a broad range of ages and abilities.

What We're Doing

We’re upgrading the Taylors Hill Sports Park with a sheltered picnic area, new BBQ facilities, new outdoor fitness station, and play items including rope climb, a carousel, and bounce mats to meet the needs of our growing community.

The playground will be closed from January 2027 until July 2027, while works are being undertaken.

Community Engagement Summary

We asked community to provide feedback on the concept plans for Taylors Hill Sports Park.

  • Most people use the reserve for walking, exercising dogs and running.
It’s also used for informal sports and the playground.
  • There was strong support for adding a shelter, picnic area and improved landscaping.
  • Overall, the concept was well received, with 57.14% of submissions rating it 4 out of 5.

Additional feedback

We also heard that the community would like to see:

  • Improvements to the lawn area
  • A fenced off-lead dog area

We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to share their thoughts.

Your feedback has helped us better understand what’s important to the community.

What happens next

  • Lawn improvements are currently outside the scope of this project. However, we will pass this feedback on to Council’s maintenance team for consideration.
  • A dog off-lead area at this reserve is also outside the scope of this project.
However, Council is developing a 4-year Action Plan to guide new off-lead dog areas, including exploring a location north of Taylors Hill Sports Park.
  • We are finalising the design based on the feedback received and will share once completed.
