Project background

The City of Melton’s new aquatic and leisure centre will be constructed on Beattys Road in Fraser Rise. Plumpton Aquatic and Leisure Centre will support a healthy, active, and connected community.

The Centre will feature indoor pools, splash play areas, water slides, spas, a sauna, sensory aquatic space, health and fitness areas, allied health spaces, an outdoor interactive water play area with beach-style access, change facilities and a café.

Community consultation

Residents, alongside other stakeholders, were invited to participate in community consultation during May 2024. Feedback was sought on the Centre’s design themes, the importance of individual services and facilities and how the community see themselves using the Centre.

Council approved the masterplan at its meeting on 22 July, with the following additional features included based on the consultation:

  • A multipurpose/events space and rooftop deck
  • An additional second program pool for learn to swim and aqua aerobics
  • Refinement of the aquatic sensory space layout
  • Relocation of the gym to the ground floor and group fitness to the first floor
  • Increased car parking.

Following the masterplan approval, schematic designs will be now developed with construction expected to commence in late 2025 and set to open early 2028.
