Background
The City of Melton is growing quickly, especially in our new communities planned through Precinct Structure Plans (PSPs). As our population increases, we need to make sure there are enough indoor sports facilities across the City of Melton for our current and future community.
We are developing a new Indoor Sports Facility Plan to help us understand what types of facilities are needed, where they should go, and how to prioritise future investment. This plan will look at current and future needs, the size and type of facilities required, and how they can best support our community.
While Council has supported several indoor sport projects in recent years, a coordinated and data driven plan will give us a clearer picture of what comes next. The plan will also consider Council’s role in supporting different sports, as well as the needs of neighbouring communities and the broader region.
What We're Doing
Melton City Council is developing an Indoor Sports Facility Plan 2026 to 2046 to guide sustainable and informed decisions about indoor sports facilities now and in the future.
The Plan will outline a clear framework for the types of indoor sports facilities our growing community will need over the next 20 years. It will help Council understand where new facilities are required and how to support the increasing demand across the municipality.
To help shape the Plan, we want to hear from you. Residents are invited to complete a short survey to share their experiences, satisfaction and demand for existing indoor stadiums in the City of Melton.
What we mean by indoor sports facilities: These are venues with indoor courts or spaces suitable for sports such as netball, basketball, badminton, volleyball, table tennis, pickleball and gymnastics etc.
We are seeking insights from community members, clubs and associations, and schools to better understand usage, demand and satisfaction with indoor sports facilities. Community members are encouraged to share their feedback through the survey below. Schools, along with some clubs and associations, will be contacted directly.
Survey closes Friday, 1 May 2026.
Once feedback is collected, we will review the responses and consider how our plan will take shape based on your input. Your insights play an important role in ensuring our indoor sports facilities meet the needs of everyone in our community.
