Review Process
Thank you to everyone who shared your feedback about our current Local Law. Your feedback has helped us to shape regulations that reflect the needs and priorities of our community.
The draft Local Law was presented to Council at the Council meeting on 26 May 2025. This Local Law has been developed by Council, with consideration given to emerging trends and demands of the community, community feedback through the first consultation period, and incorporating a number of administrative changes.
What we heard from the community
During the first round of community consultation in April 2025, we received almost 50 submissions. Council considered those submissions and has made several changes across all eight parts of the local law.
Some of the submissions received, contained information that is not in the remit of the Local Law, and has been referred to the appropriate teams as general feedback.
We have attached a summary of changes on the right column of this page. Below are top five topics that communities believe should be a priority in the new City of Melton Local Law.
Top 5 Local Law Priorities

2. Traffic
-
3. Roads

4. Rubbish

5. Animal Control
