What is the project about?

We want to hear from the City of Melton's young people about what's important to them in the places they live. We want to hear the health and wellbeing experiences and ideas from young people to inform the Council and Wellbeing Plan 2021-25, and the Youth Strategy.

A series of consultation activities are being held throughout April to ensure the voices of children and young people are reflected in the next Council and Wellbeing Plan. This consultation is part of a new and exciting partnership between Melton City Council and VicHealth.

Kinders, primary schools and high schools have all been invited to participate in tailored engagement activities in Term 2. If you think your kinder or school should be involved, have a chat with them and have them contact our Health & Wellbeing Projects Officer.

In addition to school activities, you will find separate surveys for children and young people, and photography capturing aspects of health and wellbeing.

The feedback from these consultations will be fed into the next Council and Wellbeing Plan, and Action Plans which stem from it. We will also use the data to inform our Youth Strategy.

If you’re interested to see what is already happening in this space for the community, like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/healthymelton

We want to hear from you.

You can contribute to the project in a couple of ways. Firstly, we would love to see photos of places and spaces where you feel happy in the community. This could be a park, a club, walking tracks or even a shopping centre. The possibilities are endless! And we can’t wait to see where you love to be in the community.

We're asking you to take a picture, write one line about what it means to you, and share it with us. Please note, people can be included in photos, but not faces.

Once submitted, your photo will be exhibited on this page for the duration of this consultation process. You will also go in the running to have it featured in our four year Council & Wellbeing plan.

We are also running a survey to get a better understanding of what's important to you. Complete the survey for your chance to win one of four $100 Woodgrove shopping vouchers.

The survey closed on Sunday 23 May. Winners will be notified by Friday 28 May.
