Project background

We are replacing the current intersection at Greigs Road and Mount Cottrell Road, Thornhill Park, with a new roundabout, incorporating feedback from residents and road users about the need to improve the City of Melton’s road network.

The roundabout will make the intersection safer for all road users and easier for heavy vehicles to get through.

Construction of the new roundabout at the Greigs Road and Mount Cottrell Road intersection commenced in November 2023 and is anticipated to be completed in April 2024.

March update

We are currently nearing completion of the Greigs Road and Mount Cottrell Road intersection upgrade with the final road surface works to be completed in the coming days.

In order to complete this work, the intersection of Greigs Road and Mount Cottrell Road will be closed from 6.30pm Wednesday 3 April to 5am Thursday 4 April. During this time, traffic detours will be in place, please refer to the map below.

Work will take place at night and will include setting up traffic control as well as the use of machinery such as asphalt rollers, hand tools, lighting towers and light vehicles.

Once this work is complete, we will be carrying out minor finishing works such as landscaping and rock wall reinstatement. Temporary lighting arrangements at the intersection will be in place with the final lighting works to be carried out by the power authority at a later date.
