Project Background
Melton City Council will soon be improving traffic and pedestrian safety along Chisholm Drive.
Four new speed humps and a raised pedestrian (wombat) crossing will be installed between Caroline Springs Boulevard and Ballarat Road. These changes are designed to help slow down traffic and make it safer for people to cross the road.
Project Update
The road will be temporarily closed from Monday 29 June to Tuesday 7 July 2026, depending on weather conditions and construction progress.
From Wednesday 17 June to Monday 22 June 2026, there will be some short-term lane closures near Caroline Springs Boulevard while two existing speed cushions are upgraded to speed humps.
There will also be temporary road closures with short local detours near the Chisholm Park Wetlands while two existing slow points are upgraded to speed humps.
We understand these works can be inconvenient and appreciate your patience and understanding. As our city grows, these improvements are important to help make our roads safer and traffic flow better.
The map below shows exactly where these upgrades will be located.
Community Engagement Summary
Between 29 May to 9 June 2026 Melton City Council consulted with the community on the traffic management arrangements during the closure. Feedback was collected via an online form which was promoted via a letter distributed to residents, and social media.
In total, 5 people provided feedback. Below is a summary of the feedback that was collected and Council’s response.
We invited our community to share their thoughts, feedback, and suggestions on the proposed temporary road closure and detours, including any opportunities for improvement.
Feedback Summary and Response
| What we heard | Council’s response |
| Concerns regarding high traffic volumes on Chisholm Drive and surrounding streets | Speed humps will help make local streets safer by slowing down traffic and discouraging drivers from using these streets as shortcuts. They are designed to support quieter, more liveable neighbourhoods where residents can feel safer walking, cycling, and spending time outside. Council will continue to keep an eye on traffic in the area to better understand how streets are being used and to identify any ongoing impacts on the local road network. |
| Westwood Drive needs urgent duplication | The Calder Park Drive, Westwood Drive, Robinsons Road and Palmers Road corridor has been identified by the Department of Transport as a key arterial road, with land already set aside for future duplication. This project would be delivered by the Victorian Government, and Council is continuing to advocate for it on behalf of the community. | Ballarat Road and Chisholm Drive intersection needs to be upgraded | Ballarat Road and its intersections are managed by the Department of Transport. Any upgrades to this road would be planned and delivered by the Victorian Government. |
