Project Background

Melton City Council will soon be improving traffic and pedestrian safety along Chisholm Drive.

Four new speed humps and a raised pedestrian (wombat) crossing will be installed between Caroline Springs Boulevard and Ballarat Road. These changes are designed to help slow down traffic and make it safer for people to cross the road.

The map below shows exactly where these upgrades will be located.

What We're Proposing

Council will be carrying out road safety upgrades on Chisholm Drive during June and July 2026. While we’ve planned works carefully, there will be some temporary traffic changes during this time.

📅 17–22 June 2026

  • Installation of four new speed humps
  • Short, temporary lane closures along Chisholm Drive for two speed humps closest to Caroline Springs Boulevard.
  • Temporary road closures on Chisholm Drive near the Chisholm Park Wetlands for 2-3 days to upgrade the two slow points to speed humps, these will not be concurrent and will use localised detours
  • See the detour maps below

📅 29 June – 7 July 2026 (School Holidays)

  • Construction of a new wombat crossing behind Westsprings Central
  • Temporary road closure of Chisholm Drive for eight-days
  • Detour via Ballart Road, Ballarat Road, Westwood Drive and Caroline Springs Boulevard
  • Access to Westsprings Central will remain open from both front and rear entrances at all times.
  • See the detour maps below

PLEASE NOTE: Dates may change depending on weather and construction scheduling.

Detours

  • For the eight-day closure of Chisholm Drive behind the Westsprings Shopping Centre the detours will be via Westwood Drive, Ballarat Road and Caroline Springs Boulevard.
  • For short-term road closures near Chisholm Park Wetlands, traffic will be detoured via nearby local streets. Note: These will not occur at the same time.

Please refer to the maps below for full details.
