Project Background

We are currently reviewing our Open Space Plan and want to know how you use our reserves and parks. Open spaces play a big role in our community’s wellbeing, so it’s important we plan carefully for their future. We currently have around 16.75 square kilometres of open spaces and these include sport reserves, parklands, dog parks, waterways, and playgrounds.

As Melton grows and changes, our open spaces are becoming more important than ever. They help connect people to their communities, neighbourhoods, the landscape, and nature.

The current Open Space Plan has helped guide the development of open spaces over the past nine years. It provided a framework for how spaces are categorised and delivered as the city expanded.

However, since the plan was first adopted, both community needs and the way open spaces are planned in Victoria have changed.

To make the most of these spaces and meet our community’s changing needs, smart and creative planning is essential, and that is why we need your feedback.
