Project Background

The upgrade to Hillside Recreation Reserve, Hillside is a jointly funded project between Melton City Council and the Victorian Government. The project will include an expanded playspace that complements the existing equipment, shelter, seating, exercise equipment, more natural shade and improved play opportunities for all ages.

Have Your Say

Thank you to all participants who contributed their valuable insights during the consultation period spanning from 10 July to 6 August, 2023. Feedback was gathered through multiple avenues, including online surveys, a hard copy flyer, emails, phone calls, and in-person discussions during a weekend session. Your input significantly informed the finalisation of the design. For a summary of the feedback received and the corresponding actions taken by Council, please refer to the document library.

The final design has been completed, incorporating several adjustments from the initial concept plan:

  • Integration of play equipment catering to a broader spectrum of ages and abilities, encompassing fitness amenities, a sandpit, nature-oriented play elements, and an expanded range of inclusive play.
  • Installation of more bins and amenities such as a drinking fountain and platforms/seats.
  • Inclusion of a pump track to complement the existing skatepark infrastructure.
  • Refurbishing of the existing basketball court instead of its relocation.
  • Changes to the path network for improved accessibility.
  • Ensuring the preservation of native vegetation by carefully avoiding any encroachment upon its footprint.
