Project Background

An Urban Design Framework (UDF) is being prepared for the Hopkins Road Business Precinct in Mt Atkinson.

A UDF is a detailed planning and design document that sets out a vision for the area to guide its use and development and will provide the framework for assessing planning permit applications.

Hopkins Road Business Precinct is a new employment precinct situated along the northern end of Hopkins Road that will provide office, commercial and large format retail, Industrial and light industrial opportunities in close proximity to the future Mt Atkinson Town Centre as well as State significant industrial precincts.

The development of the Hopkins Road Business Precinct UDF is a requirement of the Mt Atkinson and Tarneit Plains Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) and the Urban Growth Zone Schedule 9 (UGZ9) in the Melton Planning Scheme. Some aspects of the UDF are pre-determined by the PSP and cannot be changed, such as the proposed land uses. However, we’d like your views on aspects of the document such as the urban design principles, requirements and guidelines.

Incorporating what we have heard so far from landowners and key stakeholders, a draft UDF has been prepared. You may view the draft UDF below.
