Project Background
The upgrade to Blackwood Drive Recreation Reserve, Melton South is a jointly funded project between Melton City Council and the Victorian Government. The project will provide more opportunities for play, sport and socialising for all ages and abilities. It will also increase tree planting and shade, improve path connections, and provide an improved kick-about space.
Have Your Say
Thank you to all participants who shared their insights during the consultation period, spanning from 12 July to 8 August, 2023. Feedback was collected through various channels, including online surveys, printed flyers, email correspondence, resident mapping, and internal feedback from the recreation team.
A total of 42 responses were received from the community, each of which played a significant role in shaping the final design. To review a summary of the feedback received and the corresponding actions taken by Council, please consult the document library.
The final design has been completed, incorporating several adjustments from the initial concept plan:
- Enhancing the play area with a diverse range of equipment catering to various age groups and abilities. This includes the addition of nature play elements, exercise equipment, and an expanded array of inclusive play features.
- Increasing seating provisions around the basketball court and amenities, such as installing a drinking fountain and bins.
- Expanding the number of garden beds and trees while considering the removal of low-quality trees that impede the site's functionality.
- Reevaluating the placement of fences on the site to better suit the overall design.
- Implementing changes to the path network to enhance accessibility throughout the area.
- Additionally, the existing shed will be demolished to make way for these improvements
